Hatred and evil power intertwined in Qiao Ling'er's heart, increasingly polluting his soul and causing impurities to appear in the stained glass Buddha body that originally belonged to Tathagata. If Qiao Ling'er continued to practice evil power like this, he would eventually become possessed by the devil. At that time, even without Wujitian's intervention, Tathagata would not be able to return to the position of Buddha.
Ruyi once again calculated the situation of the relics. He first found one from Shuangta Temple, then found another one in Longguang Temple, four in Huaguo Mountain, and together with the three found in the underground of Zhenyuan Daxian's Taoist temple before, there were nine in total. There were still seven relics left, including the relics of the ancient Buddha Dipankara in Lingshan Sutra Pavilion, the Bull Fighting Palace in Heaven, and the Ten Thousand Buddha Pagoda in Mengjie.
The Heaven Realm was still in the hands of the giant scorpion, Wu Tian's subordinate. Ruyi didn't want to confront Wu Tian again for the time being. She felt like she was being used as a shield for Qiao Ling'er, and somehow drew all of Wu Tian's attention to herself. As long as Ruoshui was still in the Heaven Realm, no matter who took the two relics in the Heaven Realm, Ruyi would always know.
Ruyi didn't want to move the relic in Guanyin's hand for the time being, so the only three relics in Mengjie that Ruyi could get in advance were left. To enter Mengjie, one needs to enter through the Qiankuntu in Lingjiu Cave in the Great Snow Mountain. Mengjie is not a real world. It is a place specially opened up by Tathagata to store the souls of people who died unjustly. To put it bluntly, it is actually an illusion.
In other words, the entire Meng Realm is actually an illusion that relies on the Qiankun Map, which is similar to Ruyi's Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains Map.
In the original plot, Sun Wukong turned into the White Elephant King and followed Black Robe into the Meng Realm. After finding the relic, Black Robe was left alone to be eaten to death by the wronged souls in the Meng Realm. If it were someone else, they might be afraid of encountering the same wronged souls as Black Robe, but if it was Ruyi, then they would not be afraid.
Ruyi was not only not afraid, but also set her sights on Mengjie. She felt that it was time to expand her Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains. Since Mengjie and Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains were similar in nature, wouldn't it be just right to fill in the Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains?
As for what to do with the souls of the unjustly killed people in the Meng Realm? Ruyi thought that the ghosts she had taken in in the Thousand Miles of Rivers and Mountains should be willing to accept new neighbors. One is an old resident of the Wrongly Dead City, and the other is a person who died unjustly. I think the old resident of the Wrongly Dead City should be more powerful... right?
The Lingjiu Cave in the Great Snow Mountain is not difficult to find. Ruyi found the direction with just a casual divination. Wutan did not attach much importance to the Meng Realm opened up by Tathagata. Not only did he not send anyone in to check it out, he did not even arrange any little demons to guard outside the Lingjiu Cave. After Ruyi arrived, he easily entered the Lingjiu Cave.
Lingjiu Cave is the place where the Buddha Tathagata cultivated his golden body, also known as the Golden Light Cave. The cave is full of golden light, and most people will be hurt by the golden light the first time they enter the cave. Ruyi was also flashed by the golden light when she first entered the cave. Fortunately, Ruyi herself is a quasi-saint who has cultivated through the golden light of merit. The golden light in the Golden Light Cave belongs to the golden body of Tathagata. It pierced Ruyi's body, except that it flashed her eyes so that she could not see the situation in the cave clearly, but nothing happened.
Ruyi began to look for the Qiankun map in the Golden Light Cave with golden light all around her. She soon found the Qiankun map on the wall of the inner room. The Qiankun map was very similar to the painted wall in "Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio". Ruyi used the same method she used to enter the painted wall world and quickly entered the Meng world.
Considering that there are no people but souls in the Meng Realm, and souls will not come out during the day, Ruyi deliberately chose to enter during the day. Sure enough, as soon as he entered the Meng Realm, Ruyi felt as if he had come to a dark room. The surroundings were very quiet, and there was no sound except his own breathing.
Ruyi opened his spiritual sense and quickly found the Thousand Buddha Pagoda where the relics were stored in the Meng Realm. The magnificent Thousand Buddha Pagoda seemed particularly abrupt in the Meng Realm with its dark red sky. Like the Golden Light Cave, the Thousand Buddha Pagoda also emitted golden Buddha light even in the Meng Realm, driving away the wronged souls in the Meng Realm.
Ruyi entered the Ten Thousand Buddha Pagoda and took away the three relics in the pagoda. When leaving, Ruyi looked thoughtfully at the Ten Thousand Buddha Pagoda, whose Buddha light had faded due to the removal of the relics. Then he looked at the dark red sky of Mengjie, squinted his eyes and sneered, "So that's how it is!"
"If that's the case, I won't feel guilty at all about taking away Mengjie now." Ruyi was just wondering why Tathagata insisted on building the Thousand Buddha Pagoda in Mengjie when he knew very well that those wronged souls in Mengjie who had nowhere to go could not stand the Buddha's light of the Thousand Buddha Pagoda.
Logically speaking, since the Meng Realm was originally an illusion created by Tathagata specifically to shelter these wronged souls, then at least it should be ensured that the sheltered souls live comfortably, right?
But after arriving in Mengjie, the situation was completely different from what Ruyi had imagined. Not to mention whether the living environment in Mengjie was comfortable or not, after the construction of the Ten Thousand Buddha Pagoda, the environment of Mengjie was simply a huge refining furnace for the wronged souls.
The entire Meng Realm is the furnace, the Ten Thousand Buddha Pagoda is the fire, and the wronged souls that enter the Meng Realm are the materials. They are slowly burned by the Ten Thousand Buddha Pagoda using the Buddha's light as fuel, and finally completely dissipate in the Meng Realm, leaving only a wisp of merit power that is then recovered by the Ten Thousand Buddha Pagoda and becomes the cultivation resource for the master of the Meng Realm - Tathagata.
"So this is how the Buddha saves the world." If Ruyi himself was not very familiar with the power of merit, he would not have been able to discover the wisps of golden light of merit hidden in the golden Buddha light of the Thousand Buddha Pagoda.
The three relics in the Thousand Buddha Pagoda were taken out from the space and compared with other relics. It was obvious that the golden light on the three relics in the Thousand Buddha Pagoda was much dimmer than that of the other relics.
For example, since each relic carries the Buddha's light of the deceased Buddha's own practice, only those who are not Buddhists and are not destined to be there can absorb and refine it. Although Lai is a Buddhist, he is not the destined one, so he cannot refine the relics left by other Buddhas, but it is obvious that Tathagata is not willing to accept this.
So he built a world of darkness, using the wronged souls who could not enter the underworld to dissipate the Buddha's light on the surface of the relics, releasing the merits in the relics bit by bit. After being transformed by the filter of the wronged souls and then collected by the Ten Thousand Buddha Pagoda, they became the merits of "saving people" that Sakyamuni could absorb and refine.
Ruyi sighed, feeling both ironic and not surprised. The irony was that the so-called Mengjie established by Tathagata out of compassion was actually like this. The not-so-surprising thing was that Ruyi remembered the original plot of "Journey to the West". After Tang Seng and his disciples arrived at Lingshan, they only took away blank scriptures because they did not give enough benefits.
As the saying goes, "What the superior does is what the inferiors should follow." Without the tacit approval of the Tathagata above, how could the two venerables, Kashyapa and Ananda, dare to do this?
